When is The Best Time to Visit Mackay?

The best time to visit Mackay is from June to October. It's dry season, and there is little chance of rain ruining any outdoor activities. While the days are warm, the nights can get chilly and reach temperatures as low as 4C.

You'll also be in time for whale season (July to September). Humpback and pilot whales make their way down the coast, making it a prime time to see these creatures from a boat or the shore.

The Mackay Festival of Arts takes place in July. It's an excellent event to plan your holiday around, and you'll be rewarded with art exhibitions, wine and cheese tastings and stand-up comedy.

The rainy season starts in November and ends in March. Mackay experiences strong storms which might put a damper on your plans. Despite the less than perfect weather, it's still the most popular time to visit the city. Make sure you book your flights and accommodation well in advance.
