Know Before You Go
- Stay healthy throughout your trip by avoiding the tap water. It's also advised to brush your teeth with bottled water, skip the ice and only eat cooked fruits and vegetables.
- As Morocco is a Muslim country, most shops and museums are closed on Friday afternoons. It's a good idea to check if there are any holidays like Ramadan happening during your stay, so you plan around it.
- Keep small change with you when you go out to eat. It's useful for giving your servers tips. The general rule of thumb is MAD 10 for local establishments and MAD 30 to 50 for more expensive restaurants.
- Always have a roll of toilet paper in your bag when you go out to explore. Most public bathrooms won't have any, and you'll have to pay a small fee to enter as well.
- Few mosques in Morocco allow non-Muslims to enter. Luckily, the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca is open to everyone. It's one of the most ornate mosques in the world and is 210 meters tall. Tickets cost MAD 210 to enter and are purchased onsite.

The city has two kinds of taxis that you can choose from:
- The Red Taxi is a shared service that is a fast way to move around town. Fares start at MAD 2 and increase by MAD 0.20.
- The White Taxi is more like a bus. It has a set route and a set price. It can be a faster option than a bus, but it only leaves once full. The fare for a single trip is MAD 6.
