Airports
Airports in Barcelona
There are three airports in Barcelona. Choosing the best one to fly into all depends on your budget, where you want to stay and how much time you have in the city.
Barcelona–El Prat Airport
El Prat is the city's main airport. It's the second largest in the country and is located 12 km from Barcelona's city centre. The airport is a hub for budget airline Ryanair as well as EasyJet and Vueling.
If you take a taxi from El Prat into the city, it will cost around EUR 25, and you'll have to pay a supplement of EUR 3.10.
Public transportation options from the airport include the RENFE train for EUR 3 and the Aerobus express service for EUR 5.
Girona-Costa Brava Airport
Girona-Costa Airport is serviced by budget airlines. Flights are cheaper, but you'll have a longer journey time into the city as the airport is 91 km from Barcelona.
To get to the city, hop on board one of the local buses. A round trip will cost EUR 21 and take 1hr 15min. There is also a train service, and you have the option to rent a car.
Reus Airport
Another budget-friendly option is Reus Airport. Located 75 km from Barcelona, the airport is also a base for RyanAir and offers lower flight prices.
To get into Barcelona, you can take the bus with a company called Hispano Igualadina. Fares cost EUR 23, and it will take around 90 minutes to reach the city centre.
You can also rent a car, but it's not recommended if you're travelling on a tight budget.
