What's on in Auckland?

Events & Walking Tours

Snap up flights to Auckland if you want to experience world-class exhibitions. Throughout the year, there are art galleries and events at Auckland Museum showcasing the best that New Zealand art, history and culture have to offer. Auckland also has some fantastic walking tours, including the Tamaki Hikoi and Rangitoto Island guided tour. For foodies, there are great tours of the city’s fantastic culinary scene, including The Big Foody, Zest, and Great Taste.

Beaches

If you book cheap flights to Auckland with Webjet, then you can use the money you save on a day trip to one of the many scenic spots situated outside the city. For a day to remember, visit the famous black-sand west coast beaches, just more than an hours’ drive from the city and Auckland Airport (AKL). You can also check out Muriwai Beach, surrounded by incredible clifftops and gannet colonies, or visit Piha and Karekare - both great beaches for surfing.

Volcanoes

Rangitoto is by far Auckland’s most famous island and is a popular attraction for tourists with flights to Auckland. The island is one of 48 dormant volcanic cones that sit off the coast of the city. You can catch a ferry here from the city centre, or join a guided tour to the summit. There are also kayak tours, which can be great fun if you’re booking flights to Auckland with your partner.

Adrenaline sports

If you’re an adrenaline-junkie, you can’t book flights to Auckland without doing the famous SkyJump from the city’s emblematic Sky Tower. At 192 metres above ground level, this thrilling plunge off the observation deck is sure to get your heart pumping! For even more excitement, you can also bungee off of the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

What is the best way to get around Auckland?

Public Transport

The SkyBus is an easy way to get into the city when you arrive at Auckland Airport (AKL). Running from the arrivals terminal into the city and North Harbour, you can easily buy tickets at airport kiosks. The travel time on the SkyBus from the airport into the city is about one hour. Auckland also has good public transport, with a great network of buses able to take you to all areas of the city and inner suburbs. Using the bus is affordable as well: prices start from $1 NZD, and there are day passes available for $18 NZD. These passes give you access to unlimited rides on buses, trains and ferries for a full day.
