Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road is a 300km, majestic stretch of road that runs along Victoria's south west coast from Torquay to Nelson.

Its incredible sights and experiences include waterfalls, towering cliffs and old sunken ships long left to rust. Surfing and swimming opportunities abound in the warmer months, or take in some fishing or whale watching all year round.

Torquay - surfing 'mecca'

If you are driving from Melbourne, the journey begins at Torquay, the home of the Ripcurl surf brand, and Bell's Beach - one of the world's most famous surfing destinations.

Seaside towns

Dotted along this winding, coastal road are historic towns that include Warrnambool, Port Fairy and Portland, and seaside resort locations including Lorne and Apollo Bay. All places are well known for their home-town hospitality.

Majestic Twelve Apostles

Visit the majestic Twelve Apostles, the natural rock formations that rise above the sea, just east of Port Campbell. They are spectacular remnants of coastal limestone erosion that has taken places over tens of millions of years, and can be viewed from well positioned boardwalks and tracks. They are a brilliant spectacle at sunrise or sunset!
