Austrian Airlines offers a wide range of connections throughout Central and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East. As a long-time member of Star Alliance (the world’s largest airline alliance), the Austrian Airlines’s network is linked with that of other leading airlines, such as Air New Zealand, to offer a global airline network.
Headquartered at the Vienna International Airport, the Austrian Airlines Group, which comprises Austrian Airlines, Austrian Arrows and Lauda Air, operate to over 130 destinations worldwide, including Central and Eastern Europe, Egypt, China, India, UAE, Lebanon, UK, Greece, Canada, US, and via code-share agreements with Air New Zealand, to Australia and New Zealand.
Tasman Trade
Air New Zealand and Austrian Airlines (utilising Lauda Air at the time) commenced code-share arrangements in 2003, providing the New Zealand travel market with another gateway to and from Europe, and southbound travellers with a link across the Tasman.
Since then, the Austrian Airlines Group has rationalised their services. The routes out of Sydney and Melbourne to Vienna are now operated by Austrian Airlines, while Lauda concentrates on the European holiday market, and Austrian Arrows serves the busy domestic and regional flight segments.
Code-sharing with Air New Zealand enables Austrian Airlines to provide the Kiwi market with excellent connections via Australia to Asia and Europe.
Europe’s East-West hub
Austria is perfectly positioned as a European hub, with excellent East-West connections serviced by Austrian Airlines’ fleet of Airbus and Boeing craft for the longer hauls, Fokker 100/70 and Bombardier Q400 for the shorter trips.
The country’s transport infrastructure is efficient: the airports are well designed and transfers to and from the city centres are easy to negotiate via road, bus or train systems.
Business Class on Austrian Airlines
